  • Specify lead direction before cabinet assembly.
  • Select fixed or adjustable white to suit the room.
  • Request a sample section for the actual cabinet finish.

Task lighting

Put usable light where ceiling lighting leaves shadows

Under cabinet LED strip lighting puts a flexible light source below overhead storage. Its position and shielding determine where the light falls and whether you can see the emitters.
A strip set too far back can brighten the backsplash and leave the front of the worktop dim. Too far forward, and you may see the luminous line when seated. Check the channel depth and cabinet lip from both viewing positions. VST supplies tape options and can discuss profiles and prewired leads separately. When choosing LED strips for kitchen cabinets, consider the counter finish and the work you do there as well as wattage.
✓

Cabinet clearance

Allow space for the finished channel, diffuser and wire exit without fouling cabinet doors or reducing access to a hinge.

✓

Surface reflections

A polished counter can reflect individual LEDs. Test the strip with its diffuser on the intended surface before you choose the LED spacing.

✓

Separated cabinet runs

Mark the illuminated sections and the cable gaps on your layout. The reel length alone will not tell you how to wire separate cabinets.

Cabinet production support

Resolve the fitting details before furniture assembly

VST is an under cabinet LED strip lighting manufacturer. We can match strip selection and lead preparation to the way your cabinets are built.
✓

Prewired section planning

Agree the lead lengths and exit directions before sampling. This gives you a wiring plan for fitting the lighting into finished joinery.

✓

Measured color checks

VST has integrating-sphere equipment for measuring light output and color. Ask for data for your selected assembly; a product photograph cannot provide those measurements.

✓

Electrical and structural support

VST can help with tight channel clearances and driver access, including how the lighting connects to and fits within your cabinet.

✓

Export packing preparation

Plan reel labels and protective packing by cabinet batch, especially when the shipment contains different light colors or connection arrangements.

System boundaries

What under cabinet LED strip lighting includes

Low-voltage tape needs a compatible power supply and a suitable mounting arrangement. Specify those parts along with the light source.
COB tape has a continuous emitting line; SMD tape uses separate LED packages. Both can fit inside a suitable profile. LED spacing, the diffuser and your viewing angle affect the finished appearance. In hardwired under cupboard LED strip lighting, the driver input usually connects to the building circuit. Never connect low-voltage tape directly to mains. Dimming depends on the driver, control and tape working together. Agree which parts VST will supply and which you will source locally before ordering a complete kit.

Strip options

Choose the light source for your cabinet construction

Choose from the tape options below. As your under cabinet LED strip supplier, VST can discuss profiles, power supplies and controls separately.

Identifiable packs

Custom labels identify cabinet sections and light colors so assembly staff can pick the right parts from a mixed project carton.

Component choices

Components behind the worktop light

Light source

COB emitting surface

A COB source emits light along a continuous phosphor line. This can reduce separate bright points in a shallow under-cabinet channel, though the diffuser and viewing position still affect reflections on the counter. Test it with your actual worktop finish. Color rendering, output and electrical load vary by model. A smooth-looking line of light does not replace the photometric data you need to choose the source.

Circuit substrate

Flexible PCB

The flexible circuit carries current along the cabinet run. PCB width affects channel fit, and the marked cut locations determine where each section can end. A tight fold can damage the conductors even if the tape still lights. Run separate leads around sharp cabinet corners instead of bending the board sideways. Leave usable solder pads and enough space inside the furniture for an insulated connection.

Power connection

Lead wires

A prepared lead joins the tape to the low-voltage circuit, avoiding a joint at every cabinet opening. Pay attention to its exit direction where a channel ends near a side panel. Show the cable route and connection location so the lead has enough working length without a visible loop. Choose the wire size and connector rating for the section's current and cable distance.

Application planning

Match the task beneath the cabinets

Plan the cabinet light around the work performed below it.

Kitchen preparation counters

Kitchen counters need continuous task light in front of the backsplash, particularly where overhead cabinets cast shadows. Check counter reflectivity, seated sightlines and interruptions around appliances before fixing the channel position. VST can help compare a COB or SMD sample in your selected profile and prepare leads for the separate cabinet sections.

Laundry sorting surfaces

A dry laundry sorting counter needs enough light to see seams and fabric colors beneath the cabinets. Check your preferred white tone and cabinet depth, including any moisture from cleaning. VST can propose a strip color and discuss protected connections if the room conditions call for them.

Small assembly workstations

Below closed tool cabinets, an assembly bench needs light across the work area with the emitters shielded from view. Tell us the task and mounting height, and identify a surface that can dissipate heat during long shifts. VST can assess the strip and profile together and identify what the sample needs to demonstrate before production.

Office refreshment counters

Cupboards above a shared refreshment counter can shade cups and preparation areas even when the room is well lit. Identify appliance heat sources and a driver location that remains accessible after fit-out. VST can arrange section wiring and packaging around the counter layout, with the mounting assembly kept clear of steam outlets.

Dressing and grooming counters

A dressing counter beneath upper storage needs local light for small objects and accessories. Check nearby mirror reflections and whether the white tone works with the room lighting. Ask VST for comparison samples and help positioning a shielded strip. Detailed grooming may still require separate light directed toward the face.

LED strips generally have two- or three-year coverage. Five years is available only for selected products, so use the warranty agreed for your model. If you have a quality issue, send a brief description with photos or video for VST to assess replacement support.

Product questions

Under cabinet LED strip lighting questions

You can start planning under cabinet LED strip lighting while the furniture drawing is still taking shape. For an existing kitchen, the questions below also help you work through limited wiring access and the remaining power and layout decisions.

Yes. A photo, cabinet lengths and the position of an available power point are enough to begin selecting options. State whether the finish is glossy and whether you need dimming. Detailed wiring and the final supply location can then be resolved with your installer.

Access to the power source usually decides the route.
Arrangement Useful when Check first
Plug-in driver An accessible outlet remains Cable concealment
Hardwired driver A permanent circuit is provided Enclosure and service access
Neither arrangement removes the need to match the tape's DC voltage.

Yes, if the driver and controls support the combined load and circuit layout. Separate branches avoid sending all the current through the first tape section. Different cable distances may need different wire sizes; sharing a dimmer does not by itself give every section equal brightness.

Check from the chair as well as from a standing position before drilling. A strip hidden when you stand may be visible when you sit. A cabinet lip or shield can help, provided it does not block light from reaching the worktop.

Only if the assembly suits the heat, grease and cleaning exposure at that location. Standard dry indoor tape cannot automatically replace a cooker-hood light. Keep the strip away from hot exhaust paths and assess the conditions before specifying that part of the installation.
