Store planning

Light the shelf faces and the displays

Lighting in supermarkets needs to make labels readable and provide useful light for movement and store work. Identify the visual task in each sales or service zone.
Supermarket LED lighting combines ambient light with display emphasis. Lighting for supermarkets must also account for shelf faces, packaging reflections, and checkout screens. VST can compare published models for a merchandise trial. Specify special food spectra or refrigeration needs with the separate evidence required for those uses.
✓

Shelf-face visibility

Record shelf heights and the labels that need to be read. Include those merchandise surfaces in the design alongside the aisle floor.

✓

Product appearance

Compare the proposed light source on the actual goods. A CCT value alone cannot show how different food colors will appear.

✓

Reflected brightness

Check reflections on packaging and checkout screens from normal viewing positions. Moving a fixture can resolve a brightness problem without changing power.

Retail project input

Choose fittings for each store zone

VST is a supermarket lighting supplier for ambient fixtures, display spotlights, and service-area fittings. Choose and specify each group for its store task.
✓

Trials on your merchandise

Show VST the product colors and display surfaces you need to illuminate. Evaluate the sample on those goods to choose the intended appearance.

✓

Track and optical options

Check the head and track together. Discuss mounting and optics with VST before setting quantities, so the chosen system provides the display flexibility you need.

✓

Existing ceilings and wiring

Identify ceilings and wiring that will remain during refurbishment. This separates lamp replacements from the parts of the store that need new fittings.

✓

Repeated store identification

Retain model, finish, and carton references for later stores. Adjust zone quantities separately so a different store size keeps the same selected fixture configuration.

Product scope

What supermarket lighting covers

Supermarket lighting includes ambient fittings, accent fixtures, and service-area products for illuminating merchandise and daily store activities.
Shelf labels, displays, and movement through the store need different distributions. Supermarket lighting design considers geometry and merchandise colors. VST, your supermarket lighting manufacturer, can help distinguish standard options from special requirements. Food spectra, refrigeration, and hygiene need separate product evidence. Assess ordinary retail fittings for their documented uses, with preservation effects supported by relevant evidence.

Store fixture routes

Ambient, accent, and backroom fixture options

Ask VST, your supermarket lighting OEM supplier, about finishes, labels, or configuration changes for the chosen model. Keep those requests separate from its standard specification.

Retail specification points

Keep these details consistent between store zones

As a supermarket lighting vendor, VST can help organize the optics, mounting details, electrical requirements, and model identifiers in your store schedule.

Display evaluation

Evaluate actual merchandise under the shortlisted source. This shows its appearance alongside the published color specification for that fixture.

Ceiling interface

Recessed trims and track heads use different mounting structures. Check the mechanical details to identify where the project needs ceiling work or a fitting replacement.

Track compatibility

Use the adapter specified for the selected track system and head. Check compatibility even where an existing track looks similar.

Store-level records

Record each fixture configuration against its store zone. Retain the references when changing quantities or supplying another location in the program.

Display fixture detail

Understand the source, reflector, and housing

Examine the source, reflector, and housing when evaluating merchandise appearance, beam coverage, and installation clearance.

Merchandise color

COB emitting source

The COB source has a compact emitting area for the fixture optics. Try the selected configuration on your merchandise because CCT alone cannot describe the appearance of every product color. Standard CCT and CRI options are not evidence of food preservation. Record the source you evaluated for supermarket lighting, and specify any specialist spectrum requirement separately from that ordinary white-light choice.

Accent direction

Faceted reflector

The reflector directs light toward the display. Choose coverage for the merchandise dimensions and normal viewing angles. A concentrated beam can create reflections on glossy packaging, and poor aiming can miss the product face. Evaluate the optic at the proposed fixture position. Where the sales floor already has ambient light, assess the accent fitting with that lighting in operation.

Fixture cooling

Aluminum heat-sink housing

The aluminum housing transfers heat away from the source assembly. Recessed fittings need the specified clearance, and track heads must stay clear of nearby ceiling or display features. Follow the model’s installation instructions. Cooling construction supports operation within the documented conditions. Suitability inside a refrigerated cabinet or above a hot preparation area needs product evidence for that environment.

Working with VST

Meet VST before planning the store order

Company information and a customer view of working with VST.

The company supplying your store fittings

Meet the business supplying your store fittings. Discuss ambient and accent models using the proposed layout. Evaluate specialist food spectra and expected retail results through the relevant product information and trial evidence, alongside the company introduction.

Working together after sample selection

Hear a customer perspective on cooperation with VST. Agree how store references and fixture changes will be recorded. Use merchandise trials and installation checks to establish the appearance and fit of the selected configurations.

Store applications

Fittings for the sales floor and backroom

Treat merchandise presentation, checkout work, and backroom handling as separate lighting tasks.

Packaged-goods aisles

Packaged-goods aisles need readable labels and visible product fronts. Record shelf heights, aisle geometry, and reflections when choosing the distribution. VST can compare downlights or replacement tubes using a layout that includes shelf faces, allowing merchandise visibility to be assessed alongside floor illumination between the racks.

Fresh produce islands

Produce islands use directional light to show color and texture. Try the source on real goods and check its aiming. VST can compare track lights for that trial, recording specialist spectrum requirements separately from standard white-light options and assessing preservation effects through the relevant product evidence.

Bakery counters

Bakery lighting must reach the display from the customer’s viewing angle. Check counter depth and glass reflections before selecting spotlights. VST can compare directional models for a counter trial, giving this merchandise its own evaluation rather than extending the aisle lighting specification to every display.

Checkout counters

Checkout areas need light for payment and packing while screens remain comfortable to view. Record counter positions, screen directions, and ceiling openings. VST can compare recessed ambient fittings and optics for the arrangement, specifying this working area separately from the spotlights aimed at merchandise elsewhere.

Backroom receiving

Backroom staff need to check cartons, sort stock, and move goods. Check moisture, fixing clearance, and obstructions from stored products. VST can provide protected batten specifications and mounting details, assessing this service area separately from the color and presentation choices on the public sales floor.

Request finishes, CCT, CRI, controls, track adapters, labels, and packing by model. Explain the presentation or installation change needed. Specialist food spectra and cabinet integration require their own evidence, and compatibility must be checked for the complete fixture.
Record the chosen color and optical version for each store fitting. Agree photometric and inspection requirements. Retain the merchandise trial as the appearance reference while production follows the specified fixture configuration.
Isolate power and check the ceiling opening or track system. Aim spotlights away from normal eye positions. With displays installed, check reflections on glass and screens. Select refrigerated-equipment lighting for its documented installation conditions.

Store supply terms

Keep the store program commercially clear

Identify store quantities and any customization scope.
01

Yes. Specify the model and version to evaluate on the display. Agree the sample charge and whether it can be credited toward the later bulk order. Free sample supply and automatic repayment are not assumed.
02

Around 100 pieces is a general starting quantity for lower-value fixtures; higher-value models may use smaller quantities. Ask for the minimum for each ambient or accent version, especially when your store fittings require customization.
03

Yes. Product labels and cartons can follow your artwork and store references. Record any mechanical development separately, including possible tooling charges. A branding request does not itself include a new electrical or physical product construction.
04

Typical production takes 2 to 3 weeks for standard fixtures, about 3 to 4 with light customization, or 4 to 6 with extensive development. Add transit and coordinate opening dates with the released configuration and material availability.
05

Pay for samples in full through PayPal, Western Union, or bank transfer. The bank-transfer deposit for store production is 30%, with the other 70% due before dispatch. Keep trial and bulk configuration references clear.
06

Use the term recorded for each model. Regular fixtures generally have 3- or 5-year options. Send an explanation and photos or video of a quality problem, then discuss replacements supplied separately or in a later shipment.

Remaining store decisions

Questions before choosing your supermarket lighting

Evaluate supermarket lighting on your merchandise and against the design requirements before repeating fittings across the store. Specify the light needed for restocking and cleaning as well as public opening hours. Photos and installation details can help begin that selection.

Yes. Show the ceiling, shelves, and display areas. Include approximate dimensions and destination when available, plus the label on a track or lamp you intend to retain. Those details help identify fixture options before the full store plan is ready.

Start with the installation country and the retailer's lighting brief. Define targets for aisle floors, shelf faces, checkout work and backroom tasks separately. Include maintained illuminance, uniformity, glare limits and color-rendering requirements, then confirm the applicable design standard with the project lighting designer.

Evaluate the light on the merchandise and viewing task in each area.

AreaTrial emphasis
Fresh produceNatural color appearance on actual goods
Packaged productsLabels and glossy reflections
Glass displayProduct visibility from the viewing angle

Run the trial at the proposed mounting and aiming position. Compare each display’s task, because a good result on one set of goods does not establish the same appearance elsewhere in the store.

No. CRI describes color appearance, not food preservation. A spoilage-reduction claim needs its own evidence for the product. If your project needs food-specific lighting, define that requirement and request the supporting product information separately.

Yes, where the fixtures and controls are compatible. Plan the light needed for restocking, cleaning, and occupied work zones outside public opening hours. Match the controller to the selected driver interface and check its dimming behavior.
