Existing-fixture retrofit

LED fluorescent tube replacement matched to your fixture

Keep a serviceable fixture while choosing the correct LED lamp and electrical route.

  • T5 and T8 model comparisons
  • Actual dimensions before nominal length
  • Wiring assessment for the existing circuit
  • Sample fit and light evaluation

Retrofit planning

Start with the fixture you intend to keep

Consider an LED fluorescent tube replacement if the existing fixture is sound and you can reach it for relamping. Start with the old lamp marking and clear photographs of the holders and ballast.
LED tubes to replace fluorescent tubes must fit the fixture and work with its circuit. VST lists AC-input T5 and T8 models; check ballast compatibility separately. Ballast-compatible, direct-wire, and separate-driver lamps need different connections. As your LED tube supplier, VST can check fixture details and discuss a suitable lamp. Retain the fixture only if its condition and conversion are suitable.
✓

Identify the original circuit

Send the ballast label and holder photo with the old lamp wattage. Include any starter, emergency pack, or control device.

✓

Evaluate useful light

Check the light at the work surface, the reflector condition, and the mounting position. Equal lamp wattage does not mean equal lighting performance.

✓

Plan installation access

Group fixtures by circuit type and location. You can then plan isolation, conversion labels, and sample trials for each group instead of assuming every fixture is identical.

Retrofit engineering

Resolve the conversion before ordering lamps

VST can help check circuit and fit for your LED fluorescent tube replacement.
✓

Circuit-specific support

Our engineers can examine the fixture information you send and identify which electrical details need checking before a lamp is connected.

✓

Photometric checks

Integrating-sphere measurements can check lamp output, CCT, and CRI. They describe the selected tube; they do not certify the retained fixture as a complete assembly.

✓

Sample-to-order traceability

After the fit trial, record the cap, cover, wiring, and label for production to use on the order.

✓

Long-tube protection

Our LED tube factory can discuss end supports and cartons for the chosen length to reduce avoidable lamp damage during shipment.

Replacement scope

What changes in an LED fluorescent tube replacement

The lamp is one part of the retained lighting system.
LED replacement bulbs for fluorescent tubes need a compatible cap and electrical design. Check holder engagement, lamp input, ballast requirements, and fixture condition. Two pins do not identify powered contacts. Type A, Type B, and separate-driver lamps have different instructions. VST can assess your proposed conversion as an LED tube manufacturer. Damaged holders or housings may make whole-fixture replacement more practical.

Replacement candidates

Compare lamps against the existing fitting

Choose an LED fluorescent tube replacement that fits the lamp format and measured dimensions of your fixture. Check its electrical connection separately.

Mainstream T8 retrofit

The 18W T8 measures D28 × 1212mm in the published specification. It is a candidate for common commercial fixtures when the electrical connection is suitable.

Retrofit handover

Keep the conversion identifiable

Keep the lamp and wiring details clear through each stage of your LED fluorescent tube replacement.

Holder engagement

The pins should seat securely in the existing holders. A fit trial lets you check for worn contacts or obstructions before converting more fixtures.

Conversion label

VST can discuss lamp labels and wiring identification as an LED tube vendor. The information should describe the ordered circuit, not the fixture’s former fluorescent connection.

Measured lamp data

Use the selected sample’s output and color measurements to judge the lighting. A catalog wattage cannot tell you how much useful light reaches the work surface.

Protected end caps

Packing supports keep the lamp pins from taking the load at the carton ends. Check the support arrangement against the tube length and the number packed together.

Lamp assembly

Lamp parts that matter in a retrofit

For an LED fluorescent tube replacement, check what each lamp part contributes to fit, operation, and light appearance.

Light source

LED light source

The LED source determines the lamp’s color and output. Compare a sample with the lighting needed for the task, especially if new lamps will sit beside older ones. An emitter photograph shows its construction, but CRI, lumen maintenance, and flicker need lamp data or measurements. Ask for information on the selected lamp; tubes elsewhere in the range may produce different optical results.

Contact interface

End cap

The end cap holds the tube in position and carries its electrical contacts. Check pin spacing, cap diameter, orientation, and how far the cap engages the holder. VST’s published T8 range lists G13 or G5 options. Match the chosen cap to the ordered circuit, and never force it into a holder. A similar-looking base does not make a lamp compatible with the old ballast.

Optical cover

PC diffuser

The PC diffuser changes how the light-emitting line looks from the room. VST lists clear and frost covers. Try the chosen cover at normal viewing angles, particularly with exposed lamps or nearby screens. A softer appearance in a photograph does not establish a measured glare rating. After evaluating the sample, keep the selected cover identified in the order so the supplied lamps have the same finish.

Retrofit applications

Match replacement lamps to the lighting task

Plan an LED fluorescent tube replacement for each location’s lighting task, with suitable wiring and maintenance access.

Existing office fittings

Office fixtures may be worth retaining if they still provide suitable desk and screen lighting. Check the reflector, viewing angle, and ballast model before deciding how to connect the new lamp. VST can assess the fixture and help select a clear or frosted sample to try in the desk area.

Classroom relamping

Classroom relamping needs readable desks and boards, with work scheduled outside teaching time. Identify the lamp format and switching arrangement, then check light distribution before changing an entire row. Our team can match a trial lamp to the fixture and provide lamp data for assessing the classroom layout.

Retail aisle retrofits

For a shop retrofit, keep useful light on the shelves and check reflections on packaging. Establish the fixture length, how merchandise colors should look, and which controls must remain. VST can discuss a lamp and color choice for one trial section before you convert the rest of the aisles.

Workshop fixture upgrades

Dry workshop fixtures may be retained if their housings and contacts remain serviceable. Check the bench task, dust exposure, and isolation procedure before choosing lamps. Engineering support can address the electrical connection and sample operation, so the replacement works with the installation as well as fitting the old tube position.

Low-ceiling storage areas

Accessible linear fixtures in storage aisles can be relamped in stages. Check light distribution, operating hours, and safe access to the fixtures. VST can provide photometric information for the selected model and discuss packing for the required lengths, rather than basing the aisle decision on one lamp viewed in isolation.

VST can discuss caps, covers, CCT, labels, and wiring as a custom LED tube manufacturer. Structural or electrical changes need a separate assessment; the original model approval does not automatically cover a modified lamp.
Production includes assembling the light source, closing the housing, making electrical connections, inspecting the lamp, and packing it. Keep the accepted cap and input arrangement clear through these checks to prevent an unreviewed substitution.
A qualified electrician should isolate and check the fixture before work. Follow the selected lamp instructions and local rules. Identify ballast requirements, the input-end arrangement, holder type, and conversion labels. Never connect a lamp to mains simply because its cap fits.

Replacement order

Ordering a fixture-matched replacement

Agree the order details once the proposed lamp conversion is clear.
01

Yes. Use a sample to check fit and operation. Agree the lamp and charge first. Any later bulk-order credit needs a separate agreement; samples are not automatically free or refundable.
02

Published VST T5/T8 records list 120 pieces. Length, electrical changes, and carton quantity can affect the order. Ask for the minimum for the exact lamp you intend to repeat.
03

Production is typically 2 to 3 weeks for regular products. Light customization usually needs about 3 to 4 weeks; extensive changes take approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Materials, approvals, scheduling, and transport affect overall project timing.
04

Private labels and custom packaging can identify the agreed lamp and circuit. Send artwork and carton marks. Extensive changes may involve tooling charges; agree the amount and any later credit for your order.
05

Regular lamps generally offer 3- or 5-year coverage. Agree the term and operating conditions, including the retained fixture and wiring. The longest option does not automatically apply to every replacement.
06

Sample orders are fully prepaid through PayPal, Western Union, or bank transfer. Bulk orders normally use bank transfer: 30% deposit, then 70% before shipment. Identify the agreed lamp on the order.

Conversion decisions

Questions before converting existing fittings

Before choosing an LED fluorescent tube replacement, check the parts of the old fixture that will remain. The answers below cover conversion choices and the information you can send before a detailed lamp selection.

Send fixture photographs, readable labels, and the old lamp marking. Never open an energized fixture. A qualified electrician can identify obscured circuit details. VST can start with partial information and explain what else a replacement proposal needs.

Compatible ballast routeRetains an expressly compatible ballast; depends on its condition and lamp list.
Direct-wire routeChanges the circuit; requires the exact lamp wiring and conversion labeling.
Choose the connection from the selected lamp instructions and fixture condition. An LED replacement for fluorescent tubes is not universally compatible with both methods.

No. Some electromagnetic-ballast systems need a specified replacement starter; other lamps require a different conversion. Electronic-ballast fixtures may have no starter. Identify the circuit and follow the selected lamp instructions, keeping unrelated products’ procedures separate.

List the lamp types and circuits separately before ordering LED lights to replace fluorescent tubes. Emergency sections or modified fixtures may need a different solution even when the lamps look the same length. Include each distinct arrangement in the trial.

No. Compare useful light and the whole fixture’s input after conversion. Reflectors, covers, and the task affect the result. Choose an LED fluorescent tube replacement for the installation. Any energy-saving percentage needs a comparison with the defined existing system.

Only with a verified compatible combination. Identify the emergency equipment, switching, required duration, and relevant tests. A normal AC tube does not establish emergency compatibility. Complete the required checks on the whole fixture before putting it into service.
