Protected strip planning

IP65 LED strip options built around a selected base model

As your IP65 LED strip supplier, VST can compare listed base models with the protected construction your installation would require.

  • Compare lower-load COB, higher-output COB and conventional RGB candidates.
  • Choose the voltage and control system before specifying protection.
  • Include section lengths, cable exits and profile space in the request.
  • Use the configuration and document checklist below to define the quote.

Select by exposure

Choose the base circuit and light effect first

The base strip sets the voltage, load, light source and cutting pattern. The protective construction then has to fit the channel and its terminations.
Ask VST, your IP65 LED strip supplier, to compare C320W0808 for an 8 W/m COB line, C528W1308 for a 13 W/m COB line, or S5050L60RGB1210 for conventional RGB at 12 W/m. Their published tables list IP20 with IP65 / IP67 optional. The comparison below distinguishes base parameters from the protected version still to be specified. State your light effect and installation space before choosing the coating or sleeve.
✓

Base-model selection

Select the light source, control format and voltage from a named base model before discussing its protected version.

✓

Space for protection

Allow for the finished strip width and thickness, end treatment and cable bend inside the intended channel.

✓

Prepared sections

Specify the lengths and locations of cable exits so the proposed termination layout can follow the actual installation.

✓

Documents for the quote

Request the completed construction drawing, end photos and applicable documents using the product FAQ checklist below.

Protection boundary

Where the IP65 rating applies

IP65 describes tested dust protection and resistance to water jets for a specified complete assembly.
An IP65 LED strip rating applies to the tested construction, including its treated ends and cable entries. Cutting or changing a termination alters that boundary unless the specified process restores it. IP65 does not establish immersion suitability. The supply, controller and any external joints have separate environmental requirements. Request the document that identifies the quoted protected assembly and its termination method; a base-model IP20 table or optional IP65 listing does not prove the finished version.

Selection factors

Checks for a protected assembly

Keep the light source, base circuit, protective layer and completed sample clear in the configuration request.

Light-source choice

The chosen COB or SMD base model determines the light line, color function and electrical load before protection is specified.

Named base circuit

Match the selected voltage and control format to the supply and controller. Protected construction does not change those basic circuit requirements.

Finished channel fit

Ask for dimensions after the protective layer and end treatment are included, with clearance for the cable transition.

Evidence check

View the finished sample through your channel cover and check its lead positions against the mounting sketch.

Construction

Source, protective layer and cable transition

As an LED strip OEM supplier, VST can review the base circuit, channel fit and cable-entry detail required by a protected assembly.

Light source

LED packages under protection

The base LED source sets the color function and visible point pattern. Compare a single-color COB line with a conventional RGB SMD circuit before choosing the assembly. The protective layer can change the apparent line and finished size, so view the selected base strip in its completed sample through the channel cover you intend to use.

Barrier

Protective coating or sleeve

A protective layer adds material around the base strip and changes its mounting envelope. The current model fields do not identify whether the optional version uses a coating or sleeve. Ask for the proposed construction and finished cross-section. Check its bend direction, surface contact and usable width against the channel before setting installation lengths.

Termination

Sealed cable entry

A cable transition needs room for the lead, protective layer and support at the housing exit. Specify where the feed and closed ends should sit. Ask for the selected construction's end photo and drawing before deciding the fixing method. The proposed method must describe how each prepared section closes and how its cable leaves the strip.

Exposure scenarios

Choose protection for the installed location

As your protected LED strip supplier, VST can discuss the construction and rating evidence for the selected version.

Covered walkways

An IP65 LED strip may suit a covered walkway where windblown rain reaches the mounting edge. Map spray direction, fixing surface and cable entry before choosing the protected construction. VST can help discuss a suitable base model, its finished protection and the documents needed for the assembled configuration.

Outdoor signs

Water can reach a sign return even when its front face is sheltered. Check drainage, end-seal positions and whether the service opening stays dry. Ask VST about prepared lengths and cable exits so the sealing detail can be incorporated into the sign enclosure before fabrication and installation begin.

Splash-prone kitchens

Cleaning spray and residue can reach a light line beneath a commercial kitchen shelf. Check the cleaning method, heat and safe supply position alongside the strip rating. Ask VST about a protected sample for fit and the documents needed to support that construction under the exposure you specify.

Damp corridors

A strip near the wall in a service corridor may face moisture and occasional impact. Check runoff, fixing points and access to replace a section. VST can help compare protected forms and mounting details that keep the cable transition away from the wettest part of the planned installation.

Garden pergolas

Wind-driven splash can reach the exposed side of a covered pergola beam. Check pooling, fixings and whether seasonal movement puts strain on the termination. VST can discuss a sample in the intended profile, with its cable route and rating evidence assessed against the finished assembly for your location.

Base candidates and the protected version to specify

The IP65 LED strip request starts with a named base model. The table gives its published parameters and the protected-assembly details that remain to be specified for the order.

For the selected base model, discuss prepared lengths, cable exits, labeling and packaging. Identify the protective layer, finished dimensions and end treatment in the quoted version rather than treating these as fixed features of the whole strip family.
VST's sampling process records the agreed construction and lead layout before production. The order should identify the completed version and checks selected for that assembly.
Disconnect power. Mount without piercing the barrier or placing a joint in pooled water. Keep the supply and controller in suitable protected locations, preserve the intended sealing detail and inspect every end after installation.

Working with VST

Ordering and cooperation questions

Set the base model and preparation scope before agreeing the protected order's quantity and production schedule.
01

Their published specifications list IP65 as an option. Ask VST to quote a selected base model with the finished construction, prepared lengths and availability stated for your order.
02

Ask about a sample after choosing the base strip and termination detail. It should match the version you plan to approve. Sample charges may be credited against a later bulk order by agreement.
03

LED strips generally start around 500 meters. A special sleeve or sealed lead may change the minimum, so the quote must state the quantity for your protected construction.
04

Regular products typically take 2 to 3 weeks to produce. Light customization is usually about 3 to 4 weeks, and extensive work about 4 to 6 weeks, excluding shipping. A protected version needs its own agreed schedule.
05

LED strips generally have 2- or 3-year warranty options; 5 years applies only to selected products. Identify the protected construction, installation conditions and warranty term together in the order.
06

VST supports private labels and custom packaging. Identify the approved version clearly and keep any stated protection rating within the scope of its product evidence.

Product decisions

Dimensions, cutting and documents for the protected version

Before ordering an IP65 LED strip, settle the space occupied by its completed construction, how sections will be prepared and which documents describe that version. These questions turn the base-model choice into a defined installation request.

Request finished width and thickness, cable-transition size and closed-end clearance. The base PCB width alone is insufficient for fitting a protected strip into a profile. Put the usable channel space on the sketch so the quotation can address the completed assembly.

Compare the finished cross-section, mounting surface and bend path with the profile. The additional protective material can affect space and heat transfer. A sample in the actual channel lets you check the cover fit and surface contact before deciding how it will be fixed.

Ask for instructions specific to the quoted construction. Specify section lengths and cable exits in the inquiry, and ask whether factory-terminated sections can be supplied. Any field cut needs the approved end-treatment process for that version, rather than a generic method copied from another protected reel.
