EXTERIOR LED CHANNEL

Exterior LED Channel for Covered Entrances and Canopies

Flat, rounded and corner aluminum channels serve covered entrances, canopies and protected edges. VST, an outdoor LED channel supplier, helps match the face and depth to the site.
  • Flat WPT forms sit close to a mounting plane.
  • Rounded WPR covers soften the visible line.
  • WPT2020 aims light out of a protected corner.

Product overview

Where exterior LED channel fits into your lighting design

Flat, rounded and corner channels serve different sheltered exterior details.
An exterior LED channel gives a strip a straight mounting body and a cover suited to a sheltered edge. The WPT flat forms keep a low visual face, WPR models use a rounded cover, and WPT2020 directs light from a corner. Compare the available height, strip width and cable route with the canopy or enclosure before choosing a section.
✓

Exposure first

Record whether the line sits under a canopy, beside an opening or in direct weather.

✓

Cable-entry risk

A protected housing still needs a cable route that avoids collecting water at its end.

✓

Sealing evidence

Ask what completed assembly was tested before relying on an IP description.

✓

Maintenance access

Decide how a strip or cover will be reached without damaging the surrounding finish.

VST supply support

How VST supports exterior LED channel selection

As a waterproof profile manufacturer, VST lists five WPT and WPR forms for sheltered runs. Send the canopy or entrance detail to compare flat, rounded and corner sections by height, strip fit and cover shape. A cut sample shows the visible line and access at the chosen mounting point.
✓

Published forms

VST lists flat, rounded and corner forms in its IP65 profile range. The drawings let you narrow the housing before setting the strip and end treatment.

✓

Assembly discussion

A cover that appears seated may still leave a weak cable exit or end joint. VST can examine those details with the proposed strip assembly.

✓

Site-specific review

The canopy shape, runoff route and cleaning method determine where a channel can be fixed. Put them on the drawing before choosing a form.

✓

Sample observation

A short mockup shows the direction of the light and the visible cover from the approach. It also gives the team an assembly to inspect.

Selection basis

What defines exterior LED channel

The WPT and WPR sections differ in shape; the finished assembly determines its protection.
The first choice is the direction and height of the light line. WPT1809 and WPR1809 are 18 ร— 9 mm low forms; WPT1813 and WPR1813 are 18 ร— 13 mm; WPT2020 turns the light from a 20 ร— 20 mm corner. The flat WPT cover sits closer to the plane, while WPR gives a rounded face. Check the site clearance, visible angle and access for maintenance before choosing among them.

Compare exterior LED channel forms

Five published sections cover the main protected-installation shapes. Choose a flat WPT or rounded WPR in 9 mm or 13 mm height, or use WPT2020 when the light needs to leave a corner. VST can match the selected body with its listed cover and end-cap options.

Practical checks

Details that protect the exterior LED channel decision

Rain path, cover fit and matched end parts belong in the same sample check.

Site exposure

Show the route of rain and runoff on the installation drawing. It helps identify where exposed joints may face wind-driven moisture.

Cover joint

Check the joint between diffuser, end treatment and cable outlet. The completed assembly can then be assessed against the actual exposure.

Canopy mockup

A sheltered-site mockup exposes unwanted reflections or trapped water paths. This makes drainage and cover appearance visible before repeated installation.

Matched end parts

Keep sealing parts identified with their matching lengths during dispatch. A matching end set is easier to locate during work under a canopy.

Component decisions

Housing, Cover and Cable Details for Exterior Runs

The body, diffuser and end connection each affect fit and maintenance. Check them on the same physical assembly.

Housing

Flat Aluminum Housing

WPT1813 is an 18 ร— 13 mm flat aluminum body that accepts strips up to 11 mm wide. Its ribbed exterior and straight face suit a protected panel or canopy soffit where a rounded lens would be prominent. Check screw position, cable space and the actual mounting plane on a cut section. The deeper WPT1813 body gives a different cavity from the 9 mm WPT1809.

Optical component

Diffuser Cover

A cover changes how prominent the light line looks from the entrance or corridor. WPT models use a flatter visual face, while WPR models have a rounded one. The listed cover materials are PC or PMMA, with finish options that should be selected for the exact model. Seat the chosen cover on a full-length sample and check access for later strip replacement.

Light source

LED Strip Width

Strip width separates one low rounded option from the rest of the range: WPR1809 lists up to 10 mm, while WPT1809, WPT1813, WPR1813 and WPT2020 list up to 11 mm. Check the selected strip, solder joint and cable route against the real cavity. A wider strip that fits another 18 mm body may not fit WPR1809.

End detail

End Cap and Cable Exit

The WPT1813 specification lists end caps with or without a cable hole. Set the hole position around the actual wire route and access needed for service. A cap that fits the cut section still needs enough space for the cable bend inside the body. Supply VST with the end view and wire diameter so the sample can show the cap and diffuser meeting cleanly.

Company perspective

Working with VST on protected lines

The videos offer company and customer context. The choice of an exterior channel still rests on the exact site exposure and the completed assembly.

VST lighting operation

The company film introduces VST's broader lighting work. For a channel under a canopy, send the team the site drawing, strip choice and cable-entry plan. A housing can then be discussed without assuming that the whole light carries the profile category's IP label.

Working relationship

The customer video speaks to cooperation with VST, not to the protection level of a particular model. Use the project sample and test scope to settle the exterior assembly you intend to install.

Application guide

Choose exterior LED channel by installation task

If you need an exterior strip channel OEM supplier, provide the site exposure and mounting detail first. The same profile can face very different risks under a deep canopy and at an open edge.

Covered entrances

A covered entrance protects the channel from direct rain, though wind can carry water under the canopy. Trace runoff on the drawing and keep the cable exit away from a water trap. Ask VST to compare WPT1813 with the soffit detail and prepare a short assembly showing the proposed end treatment.

Canopy corner accents

At a canopy corner, a straight downward line may miss the area that needs light. Set the angle, fixing plane and the direction seen by people approaching the entrance. A WPT2020 sample from VST will show the cover in the intended corner position on site.

Protected sign surrounds

A sheltered sign surround needs straight, repeatable lengths and a clean edge around the panel. Confirm the substrate, miter points, service opening and driver location. Send the frame and cut list to VST so the slim WPT1809 section can be checked against the planned runs.

Service corridors

A covered service corridor can still expose the channel to cleaning and accidental knocks. Record the cleaning agents, likely contact points and how a damaged length would be removed. VST can supply a WPR1813 section and the proposed end parts for a trial of the fixing method.

Equipment perimeter lines

An equipment edge near an exterior opening may see condensation as temperatures change. Check the host material, cable entry and test requirement for the whole lighting assembly. A WPT1813 section from VST gives the enclosure team a way to test fit before repeating the design.

Request a profile review

Specify the right exterior LED channel for your project

Send the site drawing, shelter depth, strip width, cable exit and expected quantity. VST can help narrow the section. As an outdoor profile supplier, it should also identify the evidence needed for the complete assembly before an exposure rating is specified.

Technical planning

Exterior LED channel specifications and installation

The IP65-series name covers profile forms. A finished light needs test evidence for its exact strip, cover, end treatment, cable exit and installation method before an IP rating is claimed.

As an exterior LED channel supplier, VST can quote cut length, cover material, finish and end-cap choices for the selected WPT or WPR model. State the site mounting method and cable exit on the drawing so the sample includes the parts needed for that run.
The aluminum section is extruded, finished and cut to the order length. The specified cover and end-cap options are paired with that model before packing. Give VST a cut list and identify which runs use flat, rounded or corner bodies so similar 18 mm sections are not mixed at installation.
Plan slope and drainage, locate cable entry away from a water trap, and validate the complete electrical assembly before it is fixed into an inaccessible outdoor detail.

Supply questions for exterior LED channel

Sample charges and order quantities depend on the exact protected-channel form and accessory set.
01

Yes, once the intended profile and cover are identified. Ask for the end treatment to be included in the sample request as well. The sample charge and any credit on a later bulk order must be agreed before it is supplied.
02

Published WPT and WPR stock terms allow a discussion from about 100 meters on several regular forms. WPT2020 has no fixed quantity in the current model note. New sealing, finish or accessory work may need a larger run; use 300 meters only as a general planning start until the exact assembly is quoted.
03

A regular profile commonly takes 2-3 weeks in production. Light changes are generally around 3-4 weeks, and extensive development can take about 4-6 weeks. The time for sample approval, assembly testing and shipment has to be planned separately.
04

Yes. Provide the zone schedule and the list of end parts chosen for each run. VST can label the lengths and matching components so an installer does not use an end treatment intended for another protected location.

Product questions

Practical exterior LED channel decisions

Flat and rounded covers lead to different visible lines under a canopy. These questions deal with shape selection, cable exit, service access and joints between lengths. Use the chosen model and site drawing to settle those details before a full run is cut.

No. The IP rating belongs to a tested completed light, including the strip, cover joint, ends and cable entry. A body listed in the IP65 profile series gives you a starting section. Ask for test evidence that matches the full assembly intended for your site.

Choose by where the light should land and how much profile height the site allows.
Form Models Selection use
Flat WPT1809 / WPT1813 Low face on a straight plane
Rounded WPR1809 / WPR1813 Softer visible cover line
Corner WPT2020 Diagonal light from a protected angle

Place the cable exit where water cannot collect around the wire. The chosen gland or seal also has to fit the actual cable and end treatment. Mark the outlet on the installation drawing so it is included in the assembly and test review.

Service access depends on the diffuser retention method and the assembled seal. Decide early whether the strip must be replaceable in place, because a permanently sealed end can change maintenance planning. The section sample should be examined with the proposed installation surface.

Set the joint on the canopy drawing before the sections are cut. Check that adjacent bodies sit level, the diffuser line continues cleanly, and each end can still be reached for service. Send VST the run lengths and joint location so the cut list and end components can be checked together.
