OEM LED lighting with clear interfaces and production definition
OEM LED lighting needs clear connections between your host product and the light assembly. As an OEM LED lighting manufacturer, VST develops mounting, optics and wiring with sample support. We help you choose a workable assembly and settle who supplies each part, including how production changes will be handled.
Mechanical, optical, and electrical interfaces are developed around one identified host application.
Choose between adapting a suitable platform and developing new boards or structural parts.
Released component and assembly information supports traceable repeat-production decisions.
Describe the host product, mounting space and electrical connection. A concept with some undecided details is enough to start.
Choose OEM LED lighting around the host interface
Equipment, furniture and luminaire assemblies have different mounting and service needs. Your OEM LED lighting supplier develops the light as part of that host. The available space, power supply and access determine which construction will fit.

A controlled luminous detail within the finished product
Design constraint
Usable recess and material response limit construction
Design direction
Fit the source support and diffuser to the host section.
Luminaire subassembly
Operating environment
Lighting product assembled around a defined mechanical platform

A repeatable light engine with documented interfaces
Design constraint
Optical and thermal responsibilities span multiple parts
Design direction
Coordinate the light module with the host optics and thermal support.
Allocate interfaces and control host changes
The host and module teams assume the other supplies the driver.
Purchasing risk: A nominally complete assembly may be unusable when combined.
Confirm: Electrical supply responsibility
VST solution direction: Allocate the driver, connector, and host connection boundary explicitly.
A mechanical revision changes the available thermal support.
Purchasing risk: The earlier sample may no longer represent production conditions.
Confirm: Host thermal-interface revision
VST solution direction: Tie the evaluated build to the actual mounting and heat-transfer interface.
A similar substitute part enters the next production run.
Purchasing risk: Fit, color, or control response can change without an obvious exterior difference.
Confirm: Component-change authorization route
VST solution direction: Link substitutions to an agreed change process and affected evaluation scope.
Scope OEM LED lighting changes before choosing development
Custom LED manufacturing starts with the host requirement that needs a change. As your OEM LED module supplier, VST assesses whether a platform can be adapted or needs new structures or electronics. Check part and tooling availability before choosing the route.
Mechanical interface
Adapt the envelope, fixing points and cable exits to the host. A special housing or flange may need new production resources. An existing platform saves development only if its mounting and connections actually fit.
Buyer input: Host fixing datum and installation access envelope
Optical assembly
Choose the source layout, diffuser or optics for the lighting task. A distribution change may affect mounting depth and heat demand. Check the optical assembly with the surrounding host surfaces before settling the design.
Buyer input: Required illuminated area and permitted source visibility
Electrical and controls
Develop wiring, connectors, drivers and controls for the product. New boards or functions add evaluation work. Check the full electrical combination, since a mating connector alone establishes little about operating compatibility.
Buyer input: Host supply behavior and required control communication
Compare development routes for your OEM LED lighting
Choose the route that resolves the host mismatch with the least necessary development. Adaptation depends on a suitable platform being available. A dedicated assembly may need new resources. Assess the required connections and feasibility before treating either approach as ready for production.
Decision factor
Adapt a usable platform
Develop a dedicated assembly
Buyer guidance
Starting geometry
Retains a suitable existing basic construction
Defines a new host-specific mechanical arrangement
Use adaptation only when the essential interfaces already fit.
Change scope
Targeted source, lead, mounting, or finish changes
New structural, optical, electrical, or board definition
Separate optional preferences from constraints that demand new development.
Production resources
Uses suitable resources where they are available
May require new tooling, fixtures, or processes
Establish resource needs before comparing the complete project cost.
Future host variants
Works while the retained platform boundaries remain suitable
Can incorporate a planned host-family interface strategy
Consider foreseeable host changes without designing unnecessary variants.
Carry OEM LED lighting from interface to released build
Our OEM LED lighting factory coordinates the light with its host. Electrical, structural, lighting and testing engineers work through the mounting and connections, then use a sample to settle the build. Production records give your team a specification it can use for later orders.

The host affects light output, temperature and electrical operation. Agree tests for its actual mounting and connections, and record which module and host versions each result covers. These checks support development. Certification of the complete product requires its own applicable evidence.
Luminous and spectral measurement
Purpose: Provide measurable source information for the defined light assembly.
Method: Secure the module in an appropriately sized integrating sphere. Measure luminous output and color for the construction being developed.
Acceptance criteria: Light characteristics meet the agreed source and optical specification.
Evidence: Data must identify the module version and the operating conditions used for measurement.
Host-mounted thermal evaluation
Purpose: Check whether the host provides the intended heat-transfer support.
Method: Run the sample on a support matching the host connection. Measure relevant housing and source-support temperatures.
Acceptance criteria: Thermal behavior satisfies agreed component limits under the defined host conditions.
Evidence: Use host-mounted evidence for that installation. A free-air observation alone cannot establish its thermal behavior.
Electrical and control verification
Purpose: Avoid interface errors between the assembly and host electronics.
Method: Connect the sample to its specified driver and controls through the protected connector. Observe its function under the agreed conditions.
Acceptance criteria: Stable behavior and correct response throughout the agreed operating envelope.
Evidence: Results apply to the power source and controls used with the sample.
Mechanical interface inspection
Purpose: Identify interference, fixing errors, or inaccessible connections before release.
Method: Inspect the sample on a host fixture, checking relevant dimensions, fixing points and access to the assembly connections.
Acceptance criteria: Mounting, seating, and connection access match the host interface definition.
Evidence: The fit record relates to one identified host revision.
Aging and repeat-operation evaluation
Purpose: Observe functional changes during project-defined ongoing operation.
Method: Run supported assemblies on an aging rack with the chosen power source. Check function and visible condition under project-defined operation.
Acceptance criteria: No unacceptable change against the agreed operating and appearance requirements.
Evidence: Agree the evaluation duration and records for the project. No lifetime figure accompanies this page.
We needed to know where the lighting ended and our equipment electronics began. Working through the driver and connector responsibilities gave both teams the same supply scope instead of leaving them with separate assumptions.

Host and light-module interface allocation
Fitting the sample to our mounting section revealed an access constraint we had missed. The change was recorded against the host revision, so it would not get lost as an informal workshop adjustment.
We could see which component alternatives differed from the production build and which changes needed more evaluation. That made the repeat-order decision easier than choosing another part because it looked the same.
Define OEM development costs and production commitments
MOQ approach
For one OEM light model, normal starting quantities are 500 units with light customization and 1,000 with high customization. Limited adaptation has a different scope from substantial mechanical, optical, electronic, PCB, tooling or process development. The quotation sets the actual quantity for the model and host connections.
Sampling support
Processing charges apply to OEM assembly sample development at VST. New production resources may bring additional mold or tooling fees. For qualifying subsequent production, the agreed sample cost may be refunded or deducted from the order payment. The quote or order terms set the eligible amount and method. Samples are not automatically free.
Lead-time factors
For light customization, samples typically need 15-25 working days and bulk 20-30. For high customization, allow 25-35 working days for bulk production and 30-50 for samples. Count from completion of the necessary technical information and fulfillment of applicable sample fees, tooling fees, deposit and other order conditions. Stable demand supports agreed material reservation to shorten later lead times. Schedule host evaluation and shipping separately.
Tooling / NRE
Tooling or NRE expenditure may apply to dedicated molds, profiles, PCBs, optical parts, fixtures or assembly processes. If the commercial terms permit an offset, eligible tooling or mold costs can be deducted from a later production payment. Those terms state the credit amount, method and qualifying order. Ownership and exclusivity need separate provisions.
Supply stability
As your OEM LED lighting wholesale supplier, VST coordinates long-term component sources and repeat-production controls for the agreed build. For stable demand, specified materials can be prepared or reserved using your forecasts. Keep substitutions and host revisions in the change records. Material reservation supports continuity, with finished assemblies held in stock requiring separate agreement.
Packaging & logistics
Tailor OEM product packaging to downstream assembly. Use barcodes and labels to identify parts, carton marks for handling, brand artwork for presentation, and user manuals and instruction sheets for the installation scope. Protection follows the packing route. VST can coordinate shipments when agreed. Packing quantities, freight and logistics dates depend on the actual order.
An OEM LED lighting order needs clear terms for the development work as well as the supplied assembly. The answers here cover ownership, quotation scope, certification and later host changes. If another responsibility is unresolved, discuss it with VST before assuming the module quotation includes every part or obligation of the complete product.
Does an OEM LED lighting order provide exclusive design ownership?+
Set exclusivity, design rights, tooling ownership and permitted reuse in specific commercial terms. A tooling or development payment alone does not establish those rights. State what you require before committing and record the agreed scope. This page provides no exclusive-ownership policy.
What should an OEM LED lighting quotation distinguish?+
List what each part of the quotation includes.

Boundary to define
Light assembly
Included components and interfaces

Host equipment
Parts and work supplied separately
A module price covers its stated supply scope. Account for the remaining host-product costs separately.
Does a module’s certification cover the finished host product?+
Check the exact certified model, construction, operating conditions and finished product. A module or component document does not automatically establish compliance of the host. Obtain model-specific evidence and ask the responsible compliance team to determine which additional checks the complete product needs.
Can the host change after the light module is selected?+
A host change may affect mounting, heat transfer, surrounding optical surfaces, wiring or operation. Record it against the production assembly and identify which evaluation needs updating before the next order. The unchanged appearance of a light part cannot establish that it suits the revised host.
