A lit outline needs workable corners and cable access. VST develops door frame lighting for your fixed frame, including its profile, joins and feed. As a door frame lighting manufacturer, VST helps you choose a sample to check profile seating and door clearance before setting the layout for repeat supply.
Start with a doorway photo, frame sketch or approximate outline; identify any undecided corner or installation details.

An LED door frame can use covered lighting on the fixed structure. VST provides door frame lighting supplier support for that integration. The frame and surrounding construction remain separate host items unless the quotation includes them.

Purchasing risk: The visible joint can hide a pinched lead and require trim removal later.
Confirm: Corner connection space behind the cover
VST solution direction: Define a supported joint and protected wiring path; do not route a lead through solid profile material.
Purchasing risk: A future module change can become a destructive frame repair.
Confirm: Access method after final trim installation
VST solution direction: Evaluate a reachable feed or removable section that preserves the surrounding host during service.
Door frame lighting customization covers the profile, joins, light appearance and electrical interface. Your door frame lighting OEM supplier scope should distinguish adaptations of a suitable construction from changes that need new development.
Develop the width, cover, fixing and exposed finish for the frame. Recessing needs room in the host. Surface mounting gives easier access but adds a visible housing and projection to the doorway outline.
Buyer input: Host profile section and seating allowance
Set segment lengths, joints and end details for the doorway. A tidy corner still needs space for its connection. Extra joins add assembly and inspection points; they do not automatically improve feed access.
Discuss white light, dimming or color controls for the interior. Extra channels change the circuit requirements. A concept image cannot establish measured uniformity, output or control-protocol compatibility.
Buyer input: Intended installed control system
Place cable exits and segment connections where you can reach them on the host. A concealed feed needs protection. Permanent trim can make a future replacement difficult, so include access in the frame design.
The frame construction usually decides whether recessed or surface-mounted door frame light profiles will fit. Compare the work needed on the host and the replacement route before choosing the visible finish.
| Decision factor | Recessed profile seating | Surface-mounted profile | Buyer guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host preparation | Frame or surrounding trim needs a suitable recess | Profile attaches to an available fixed surface | Use recessing only when the host provides adequate space. |
| Visible outline | Luminous face can align closely with surrounding trim | Complete housing remains visible on the frame | Choose the visual effect before finalizing the frame detail. |
| Service route | May rely on removable trim or cover access | Fixing and cover can remain more directly reachable | Keep a practical access route for each connection. |
| Main trade-off | Greater coordination with the frame build | More visible projection and fixing detail | Assess appearance together with installation and replacement effort. |
VST coordinates structural and electrical development for door frame lighting. The team prepares a sample segment and corner connection for a host-fit check. Those installation details then form the basis of the repeat frame layout.
VST work: The team checks the profile at the fixed frame corner and the space available for its connection.
Stage output: A proposed segment layout and corner joint for the frame.

VST work: VST assembles the corner sample with retained wiring and seated covers so you can check its fit.
Stage output: A joined sample showing where the protected connection runs.

Customer input: Host movement or sealing detail where relevant
VST work: Check segment seating and clearance from the hinges, seals and moving parts of the doorway.
Stage output: Seating changes and observations of clearance during door movement.

Customer input: Accepted layout and service-access decisions
VST work: Production records segment identities, connections and components for the frame layout you accepted.
Stage output: A segment build specification based on the chosen corner sample.

A door frame lighting factory evaluation distinguishes segment measurements from installed frame behavior. The checks apply to the chosen covered assembly, its source, supply and mounting conditions. They do not establish the performance of the complete doorway.

Purpose: Measure the selected light segment independently of the entire doorway outline.
Method: Load a complete short module segment on the internal sphere support and measure after closing the door.
Acceptance criteria: Segment color and output follow the selected module specification.
Evidence: Data identify the segment and do not substitute for installed frame assessment.

Purpose: Identify heat around the profile in the intended frame seating.
Method: Measure the specified contact point on the covered profile while it operates in a representative frame seating.
Acceptance criteria: Temperatures stay within the project-defined limits for that host mounting.
Evidence: Results depend on the actual section, mounting material and operating state.

Purpose: Observe unstable operation before adopting the chosen construction for repeated frames.
Method: Operate separately connected covered segments on the aging rack under the agreed plan, inspecting interruptions or changes.
Acceptance criteria: The defined operating assessment shows no unintended interruption or instability.
Evidence: Aging observations apply to the identified segment build and conditions.

Purpose: Reduce seating mismatch and interference at the joined frame detail.
Method: Gauge the unpowered profile dimensions and seat matching segments in a representative square-corner fixture.
Acceptance criteria: Profile seating and joint clearance follow the accepted host detail.
Evidence: Fit records describe the section and joining construction actually assessed.

Purpose: Characterize the covered source before selecting its orientation on the frame.
Method: Secure the complete short segment on the dark-room rotating holder, with the lead retained clear of movement.
Acceptance criteria: Emission follows the orientation and visual objective selected for the frame.
Evidence: An IES file requires the measured segment and its source configuration.
The project defines profile identity, joining detail, protected feeds and the selected frame layout.
Requested records distinguish segment measurements from observations made in the representative host.
Light customization of one model normally starts at 500 units; high customization starts at 1,000 units. Your door frame lighting supplier quote specifies what counts as the ordered assembly. A platform adaptation differs from major structural, optical, electrical, PCB, tooling or process development. The final quantity and segment contents follow the quoted scope.
VST supports sample development for the frame segments and corner connection. Processing fees apply, and new manufacturing resources may need tooling or mold charges. Eligible sample expenditure can be reimbursed or credited toward a later production order. Record the applicable amount and method in the frame-light quotation or order terms.
For light-customized frame assemblies, allow 15 to 25 working days to make the sample. Bulk production usually takes 20 to 30. A high-customization sample requires a normal range of 30 to 50 working days, followed by 25 to 35 for bulk. Start timing after the required technical information, applicable deposit, sample or tooling charges and remaining order conditions are complete. Reserving materials for stable demand can reduce delays on later frame orders. These ranges do not guarantee a fixed completion date.
New frame profiles, joining parts, optics, PCBs or dedicated production fixtures may incur tooling or NRE charges. Eligible mold or tooling expenditure can be credited against a later production payment. Specify the qualifying order, amount and credit method in the project terms. A dedicated resource does not automatically qualify for an unconditional refund.
VST coordinates established suppliers and repeat-production controls for the profile, light source and segment connections. Planning from your forecast, including reservation of agreed key parts, can support steadier supply and faster repeat scheduling. Keep that material availability separate from a promise of finished frame assemblies in stock.
Customize profile packaging and labels within the order scope, together with carton marks, brand artwork and barcodes. Instruction sheets and user manuals can follow the segment assembly requirements. Protect the long sections and identify the corners and segments so they are easy to match. VST can coordinate shipping; carton dimensions and freight arrangements depend on the order.
Door frame lighting is part of a larger doorway assembly. The questions here address applications and supply items that a choice of profile or mounting alone cannot settle. If your doorway needs an additional function, contact VST to discuss it. You can identify which work belongs to the light module and which belongs to the host before every detail is fixed.
Vehicle doors need a separate assessment from the indoor architectural system on this page. Door frame lighting for a vehicle can have different wiring, movement, exposure and compliance requirements. Identify that use when you contact VST. The fixed indoor profile concept is not a verified automotive product.
No. Ambient outline lighting does not establish an emergency or exit-identification function. Those uses require applicable system evidence and a specified operating arrangement. State the safety functions separately before choosing the doorway assembly; a continuous light line does not prove that it provides them.
Define the boundary by item so the light-system quote matches the planned host work.
| Item | Boundary |
|---|---|
| LED profile segments | Selected lengths and covered construction |
| Joints and leads | Included connecting and feed parts |
| Power/control | Supplied devices or host interfaces |
| Frame and trim | Separate host unless expressly included |
Assess the rated doorway and the proposed modification before adding lighting. Cuts, fixings and feed routes can affect its construction. A light segment does not authorize changes to the frame. Use the relevant doorway documents and responsible project assessment before altering the rated assembly.
Independent replacement can be a design objective when you can reach each segment’s fixings and connection. Permanent joins or inaccessible trim need a different service approach. Decide which segment must be removable, then test that route on a representative frame before adopting the layout for repeated assemblies.
