Custom Light Fixture Development Around Your Installation and Design
If a standard fixture has the wrong length, mount or diffuser, VST can develop the complete assembly. As a custom light fixture manufacturer, we specify the housing and building-supply connection together. The initial discussion identifies a workable construction and the sample needed to judge appearance and fit.

Choose a Custom Light Fixture for the Working Space
The linear pendant shown is one starting point for a custom light fixture. Position it around the task surface and ceiling support, then leave room to connect the supply and reach service parts.
Meeting table pendant
Operating environment
Indoor office meeting area
Buyer requirement
Light across the tabletop
Design constraint
Ceiling fixing points may not follow the table centerline.
Design direction
VST develops the canopy and suspension around the available support.
Retail service counter
Operating environment
Customer-facing indoor counter
Buyer requirement
A clear work surface without an oversized housing
Design constraint
The visible fixture must fit the counter proportions.
Design direction
Bar length and diffuser width can be set to the counter layout.
Shared workbench
Operating environment
Dry indoor assembly or studio bench
Buyer requirement
Useful light over the active work zone
Design constraint
Tall tools can interrupt the beam or limit hanging height.
Design direction
The mounting drop and emitting face are chosen around the usable clearance.
Details That Can Delay Installation
The canopy covers the wrong ceiling footprint.
Purchasing risk: Installation may need visible patching.
Confirm: Existing outlet position
VST solution direction: Set the mounting plate and cover outline together.
A sealed housing has no route to the driver.
Purchasing risk: A small service job can require removing the whole fitting.
Confirm: Service side
VST solution direction: Provide access in the chosen end or canopy detail.
The diffuser is chosen only from a loose swatch.
Purchasing risk: Source points may remain visible after assembly.
Confirm: Normal viewing angle
VST solution direction: Judge the optical stack in the complete sample.
At our custom light fixture factory, we first check whether available housings and optics suit the design. A change of length, finish or mount may retain those parts. A new section, light engine or attachment system needs a separate construction and tooling plan.
Housing and finish
Length, cross-section and finish can follow the visible design. A new extrusion is considered when an available section cannot fit.
Buyer input: Visible envelope
Diffuser and light engine
Diffusion and source layout are selected together, including the space needed to hide direct source points.
Buyer input: Appearance target
Canopy and suspension
Fixing slots, drop and cable-gripper locations can suit the ceiling interface without using the electrical lead as support.
Buyer input: Ceiling support
Electrical and service access
Supply interface, controls and access covers follow the chosen circuit and maintenance route.
Check which housing and assembly parts can stay. If a new construction solves an installation problem, weigh that benefit against the additional tooling and sample work. The complete fixture sample should settle the fit.

How the Custom Light Fixture Becomes a Buildable Assembly
VST coordinates the canopy, housing and optics as your custom light fixture supplier. The interface sketch shows how they fit together. An assembled sample checks that detail, and the packing layout sets out how the parts reach the installation.
01
Ceiling interface
VST work: Map the outlet and fixing positions to the canopy plate.
Stage output: Canopy outline and mounting-slot drawing.
02
Optical assembly
VST work: Seat the full-length board and rigid diffuser in the housing.
Stage output: A closed optical sample for viewing at the intended angle.
03
Suspension fit
VST work: Set both support cables and inspect the gripper engagement.
Stage output: A hanging sample with a defined support and lead route.
04
Packing layout
VST work: Separate the bar, canopy and coiled leads in protective supports.
Stage output: A carton layout and assembly contents list.
The custom light fixture manufacturer test plan covers the final assembly. These photographs show how it may be checked. Measurement results and acceptance records apply only to tests performed on the specified sample.
Suspension retention
Purpose: Check the support path through cables and grippers.
Method: Mount the unpowered fixture on a rigid test rig with an inline load cell and apply the agreed loading procedure.
Acceptance criteria: No slip or damage under the project test condition.
Evidence: Suspension record after testing the selected assembly.
Integrating-sphere setup
Purpose: Measure the selected light engine as assembled.
Method: Place the complete unlit bar inside a suitably sized sphere, route the feed, then close the enclosure for measurement.
Acceptance criteria: Measured light and color meet the agreed sample targets.
Evidence: Optical measurement sheet after the sphere test.
End-entry inspection
Purpose: Check that the lead jacket is retained at the housing.
Method: Inspect the grommet and flex the disconnected lead to locate poor seating or sharp-edge contact.
Acceptance criteria: The jacket stays seated and clear of damaging edges.
Evidence: Inspection record after checking the selected end assembly.
IES distribution measurement
Purpose: Establish where the fixture sends light.
Method: Hold the bar rigidly at the goniophotometer rotation center and measure in a dark room.
Acceptance criteria: The resulting distribution supports the intended task layout.
Evidence: IES file or report after testing this fixture version.
Documents for the Selected Assembly
Use the same fixture version on drawings and test files so later changes can be traced.

A light change to one custom light fixture model generally starts at 500 units. A new housing, optical system or substantial structural change usually starts at 1,000 units for that model. The quote names the construction covered.
Sampling support
VST can quote a complete sample as your custom light fixture supplier. Processing charges may apply, along with tooling costs for dedicated parts. Eligible sample spending may be returned or credited on a later order under agreed terms.
Lead-time factors
Light customization typically takes 15-25 working days for samples and 20-30 for bulk production. Deep customization typically takes 30-50 working days for samples and 25-35 for bulk production. These ranges depend on the settled construction and order conditions.
Tooling / NRE
Dedicated dies, molds or assembly tools may carry a separate charge. The commercial terms can specify a tooling credit against the goods value of a later qualifying order, including the amount and conditions that apply.
Supply stability
Repeat orders for custom lighting fixtures use the released housing, diffuser and electrical version. With stable demand, VST can prepare or reserve agreed materials before future batches to keep supply steady and shorten replenishment times.
Packaging & logistics
Protective packing can separate long housings from canopies and hardware. Carton quantities, labels, manuals and installation sheets can be customized for the way your team receives the fixture and assembles it on site.
You can request a quotation while the room concept is still taking shape. It should identify open electrical and mounting decisions and separate the lamp assembly from site work. Discuss mixed mounting types, an existing controller or drawing ownership before setting the sample brief. Include any requirement that the available construction options do not yet answer.
Can one appearance use different mounting types?+
One appearance can be developed with different mounts as related variants. Each needs a separate interface and parts record, so the order clearly distinguishes the pendant from the surface fitting.
Can the power equipment be quoted separately?+
The quotation can separate the supply boundary.
Scope
Identify in the quote
Fixture
Housing, light engine and mounting parts
Power
Driver supplied by VST or by the project
Controls
Required interface and external equipment
What if the building uses an existing control system?+
Name the controller and required interface before selecting the driver. Physical connector fit alone does not establish control compatibility.
Can the custom design be exclusive?+
Exclusivity, drawing use and ownership of dedicated tools are commercial terms to discuss before development. They are not automatically included in a standard quotation.
