Table and Bedside Lamp Development

Custom Lamps with the Right Shape, Light and Everyday Usability

VST develops custom lamps for bedside tables, reception desks and coordinated interior collections. As your custom lamp supplier, we work through the base, shade and electrical build together, so the finished lamp combines the intended appearance with a stable base and accessible controls. Your inquiry starts a construction discussion and defines the scope of a complete lamp quotation.

  • Complete lamp development covering the base, shade and usable light
  • Sample evaluation of stability, shade fit and switch access
  • Finishes and packaging coordinated for repeat orders in your collection

Start with a style photo or rough size; an unfinished concept is welcome, and unresolved details can be discussed.

Match the Lamp to How the Space Is Used

Custom lamps occupy surfaces people use every day. Table depth, eye level and access to a switch affect whether a design works in practice, even when its silhouette already suits the room.

Resolve Practical Weaknesses Before They Reach the Room

Shade blocks the control

Purchasing risk: A decorative shape can make routine switching unnecessarily awkward.

Confirm: Preferred control location

VST solution direction: Locate the control within easy reach and away from the hottest parts.

Finish varies across visible parts

Purchasing risk: A mismatched stem and base can spoil a coordinated interior collection.

VST solution direction: Use matched finish samples and specify the appearance standard for adjacent materials.

Glass carries assembly pressure

Purchasing risk: Overtightened decorative parts may create damage during packing or installation.

VST solution direction: Use a positive mechanical seat and a retention method appropriate to the shade material.

Choose Which Parts of Your Custom Lamps Change

As a custom lamp manufacturer, VST connects the requested shape with a buildable base, shade and light source. Adapting suitable components may reduce development work; a new molded part or unusual body requires its own engineering.

Base and balance

Base diameter, mass distribution and stem position affect stability together. A heavier base can improve resistance to tipping but adds shipping weight; the actual construction needs evaluation with the finished shade installed.

Buyer input: Expected table depth and contact conditions

Shade and diffusion

Shade form, opening and material change both the visible appearance and direct view of the source. Glass, rigid diffusers and opaque shields require different seats and retention details rather than interchangeable decorative fittings.

Light source and servicing

Custom made lamps can use a replaceable lamp holder or an integrated LED engine. The choice changes heat, access and replacement parts. A new integrated board may require development even when the outer body is familiar.

Control placement

A base switch, an inline control or a compatible dimming arrangement can be considered. Locating the control changes the cable assembly and user access; touch control is a separate electrical design decision, not a default feature.

Compare the Source Behind the Finished Lamp Shape

The service model is the main difference between these constructions. Your custom lamps supplier can quote the applicable approach while keeping the shade and electrical clearances tied to that choice.

Develop the Base and Shade as One Working Product

Our custom lamp factory coordinates structural and electrical work before decorative details are fixed. You receive a sample construction with a documented shade seat, accessible switch and identified electrical components. The stages below turn the chosen appearance into an assembly that can be repeated.

  1. 01

    Set the overall proportions

VST work: The team arranges a base, stem and shade mock-up to examine the silhouette and usable table footprint.

Stage output: Proportion record showing the shade position and base envelope.

  2. 02

    Develop the shade seat

VST work: Structural engineering prepares the shade retention around a positive seat without loading the delicate edge unevenly.

Stage output: Sample shade fitting with defined contact surfaces and retention parts.

  3. 03

    Fit the electrical assembly

VST work: Technicians route the lead through protected openings and position the control clear of the shade fixing.

Stage output: Wired sample with strain relief and an accessible switch.

  4. 04

    Prepare packing supports

VST work: Packing development supports the base and shade separately so shipping loads do not pass through decorative joints.

Stage output: Protective packing sample with an identified position for each part.

Check Custom Lamps in Their Complete Working Form

A shade or base alone cannot show how the finished lamp behaves. Evaluation brings the parts together and checks the risks that affect daily handling. Numerical limits and formal evidence remain specific to the selected product.

Base stability check

Purpose: Evaluate whether the assembled lamp remains seated during specified handling.

Method: Place the complete unpowered lamp on a level test surface and examine its footprint and response to the defined handling check.

Acceptance criteria: No unintended rocking or loss of the required support.

Evidence: The agreed method and observations belong to the sample record.

Shade retention inspection

Purpose: Avoid looseness or uneven loading of a glass or rigid shade.

Method: Inspect the seat and retention parts with the lamp unpowered; check that the shade sits evenly without forcing it into position.

Acceptance criteria: Correct engagement without sharp pressure points or uncontrolled movement.

Evidence: Assembly inspection can accompany sample evaluation.

Thermal observation

Purpose: Identify hot accessible parts and heat around the source enclosure.

Method: Operate the assembled lamp, then inspect the shade fitting and housing from a direct line of sight after stabilization.

Acceptance criteria: Accessible and internal component conditions meet the product specification.

Evidence: Thermal findings require an actual measurement, with the recorded test conditions.

Complete-lamp optical measurement

Purpose: Evaluate the selected source and shade together before stating output and color values.

Method: Load the unpowered complete lamp on the internal support of a suitable integrating sphere, then close it for measurement.

Acceptance criteria: Luminous output and color characteristics meet the lamp specification.

Evidence: Results apply to the tested shade and source combination.

Order Planning for Your Custom Lamp Collection

MOQ approach

Custom lamps normally begin at 500 units per model for light customization or 1,000 for extensive customization. Adapting a suitable body differs from creating a new shade mold, base or electrical design. Your quotation states the applicable starting quantity for the selected construction and finish.

Sampling support

Development samples are supported and carry processing charges. New molds or other production resources may add tooling costs. For eligible expenditure, a later production order can trigger an agreed return of sample costs or an order credit. The amount and settlement method are discussed for your lamp project and documented in writing.

Lead-time factors

Typical sample and bulk periods for light customization are 15-25 and 20-30 working days respectively. Extensive customization usually requires a 30-50 working-day sample period and 25-35 working days for production. Scheduling begins once required technical details are complete and the applicable sample or tooling fees, deposit and other order conditions are met. Reserving materials against stable demand can shorten subsequent schedules.

Tooling / NRE

A bespoke glass form, base casting or dedicated fixture can involve tooling or NRE charges. Eligible tooling and mold expenses may be credited against a later production payment. The qualifying order, credit amount and method belong in the commercial terms rather than an assumption that every expense is automatically refundable.

Supply stability

VST coordinates the shade, finish and electrical components for repeat production. As a custom lamp supplier, we can prepare agreed materials against a stable forecast, helping keep later orders consistent. Such reservations concern materials and scheduling; they do not mean a finished lamp range is continuously stocked.

Packaging & logistics

Packing can separate fragile shades from heavier bases and identify the correct assembly parts. VST can adapt brand artwork and labels, add barcodes and carton marks, and prepare instruction sheets or user manuals. The order scope also defines any shipment coordination, without assuming freight costs or transit times.

Questions Before Committing to a Complete Lamp Design

You may have a clear visual concept while the source, sales regions or final product range remain undecided. The questions below address choices that can affect the first quotation without requiring you to settle every decorative detail immediately. Discuss any remaining concern with VST so the proposed custom lamps match the actual product you intend to place in service.

Can the quotation separate the lamp from its replaceable light source?

Yes. State whether the replaceable source is included, since a complete outer lamp does not by itself define that supply boundary.

Scope What to specify
Body and holder Compatible source envelope and electrical limits.
Lamp with source Included lamp type and control compatibility.
Integrated LED version Engine, driver and service assembly scope.
Can one design be prepared for more than one sales region?

The appearance may be shared, but the electrical version and applicable product requirements need separate treatment. Plug style, input supply and documentation can differ. VST evaluates those differences for the proposed custom LED lamp; a document for one version does not automatically cover another version or every destination.

Can you reproduce a lamp from a picture?

A picture can communicate proportions, materials and the desired effect. It cannot establish hidden construction, rights to reproduce the design or a safe electrical build. We use it to discuss an original manufacturable proposal. Any protected design features need appropriate authorization rather than being copied into customised lamps.

Can you develop a new lamp body from our design reference?

VST can assess the proposed shape, material and manufacturing route. The quotation should identify any new tooling, prototype work and process limitations before development begins. This gives you a clear basis for deciding whether to adapt existing parts or develop a new body.

Can a matching range use different shade sizes?

Yes, coordinated variants can be discussed, but changing the shade alters balance, heat clearance and packing. Treat each finished combination as its own product definition. This makes the quotation clearer and avoids assuming that a larger shade can simply be fitted to the original base without further evaluation.
